Spain is one of the most engaged creator markets in Europe. The audience is large, the platforms are mature, and the cost-per-engagement still sits below most Western European benchmarks. If you are a global brand thinking about where to scale next, Spain deserves a closer look than it usually gets in a media plan.
This guide is the version we wish every brand had read before sending us a brief.
Why Spain matters
Spain has 48M people, 95% smartphone penetration, and the highest TikTok engagement rates in Western Europe. Instagram is still the trust platform. YouTube is where long-form gaming and lifestyle creators live. Twitch is bigger here than in any other European market relative to population - thanks largely to Ibai Llanos, TheGrefg and the broader Spanish-speaking esports scene that pulls in audiences from across LATAM.
What that gives an advertiser is real depth at every tier:
- Mega creators (1M+): Dulceida, María Pombo, TheGrefg, Ibai, Auronplay
- Macro (250K-1M): a wide bench in beauty, fashion, gaming and food
- Mid-tier (50K-250K): the most efficient layer for performance-driven campaigns
Platforms - which one for which goal
Instagram - default for beauty, fashion, lifestyle, food. Highest trust for product recommendation. Stories still drive the most in-feed conversion for our clients.
TikTok - default for awareness at scale. Spanish TikTok is one of the most active in Europe; CPV is still well below US benchmarks. Best for product launches and trend-driven moments.
YouTube - long-form gaming, tech reviews, podcast-style content. Higher production but longest watch-time.
Twitch - the platform foreign brands almost always under-weight. If your audience is 16-34 and male-leaning, this is where they spend their evenings.
Pricing - what a campaign actually costs
Ballpark rates (a single post / video, before media amplification):
| Tier | Followers | TikTok | YouTube | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mid | 50K-250K | €1.5K-€5K | €1K-€4K | €3K-€10K |
| Macro | 250K-1M | €5K-€20K | €4K-€15K | €10K-€40K |
| Mega | 1M+ | €20K-€100K+ | €15K-€80K+ | €40K-€200K+ |
A multi-creator campaign with light amplification typically sits between €50K and €500K all-in. Below €50K we recommend a 3-4 creator test, not a full campaign.
The 8 mistakes foreign brands make
- Treating Spain as LATAM. Spain is European in pace, brief and contract structure. The slang is different, the cultural references are different, and a Mexican script translated for Madrid will land flat.
- Going Madrid-only. Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao have very different creator scenes. A national campaign needs voices from outside the M30.
- Picking creators by follower count alone. Spanish audiences are sharp on authenticity. A 200K creator with a tight community will outperform a 2M influencer who posts ads weekly.
- Writing the script in English. Even the best translator will flatten the joke. Brief in English, let the creator script in Spanish.
- Skipping Twitch. If your category is gaming, tech, finance, food or telco - you are leaving money on the table.
- Booking a single post. Always-on, even at low frequency, outperforms one-off campaigns 4:1 on engagement for our clients.
- Ignoring Catalan creators. Brands targeting Catalonia (16% of Spain's GDP) skip a whole layer of high-engagement local voices if they only book Spanish-speaking creators.
- Underestimating GDPR friction. Data sharing for creator audience insights is tighter than in the US. Plan for that in your timeline.
When to launch
The Spanish creator calendar peaks around the same windows as the rest of Europe (back-to-school, Black Friday, Christmas) but adds two: the long summer (July-August content travels well from Mallorca, Ibiza, the Costa Brava) and the rebajas window in January.
The least productive window is mid-August - everyone is at the beach, including the creators.

What we'd start with
For most global brands testing Spain for the first time, our default recommendation is:
- 3-5 creators, mixed tier (1 macro anchor, 2-3 mid, 1 micro for credibility)
- TikTok + Instagram in parallel (one creator can usually cover both)
- 6-8 week window to learn what works
- One paid amplification layer behind the 2 strongest pieces
Budget: €40K-€80K all-in. Tells you whether to go bigger before you commit to a full programme.
If that sounds aligned with what you are planning - the brief lands at marta@boldcreators.club.
